Abstract Information about several papers discussed at a conference in doing research in applied Linguistics held in April 2011 hosted by King Mongkut University of Technology (KMUTT) in Thailand is presented. Topics include the quantitative and qualitative methods that examine the processes and attitudes of Hong Kong academics, the Bayesian statistics, and parallel presentations of language from Systematic Functional Linguistics. The conference featured speakers including David Hall and John Flowerdew.
