Exploratory sequential The QUAL method is followed by a QUANT method. In terms of integration, QUAL findings inform the QUANT method; then, QUANT results are employed to confirm and generalise QUAL findings. In exploratory sequential, QUAL is always the first phase followed by QUANT. Explanatory sequential The QUANT method is followed by a QUAL method. Regarding integration, QUANT results inform the QUAL method; then, QUAL findings are employed to interpret or explain QUANT results. In explanatory sequential, QUANT is always the first phase followed by QUAL. Concurrent/parallel QUANT and QUAL or QUAL and QUANT data collection occurs simultaneously Integration occurs during collection, or analysis, or collection and analysis. In concurrent/parallel, any method can be first, but they can have different weighting.
