Description
Pastoralist livestock systems are specialized in exploiting environmental variability inherent to rangelands with herds of ruminants (e.g. cattle, sheep, goats). They are based on fostering human-animal-environment relationships through their sophisticated livestock breeding and grazing management. We show how the production principles of pastoral livestock systems support sustainable land-use and explain their contribution to food security.
