Description
正 The focus of this paper is on determining the requirements of different component options used to manufacture a mass customized end product. We explicitly model two distinct sources of option requirements uncertainty: stochastic end-product demand and uncertain market pro-portion demand for each option. An analysis of a stylized two component and two option model helps to structurally characterize the optimal cost minimizing requirements policies for all op-tions in order to meet desired end product fill rates. The model is extended to address the issue of component commonality.
