Bangladesh’s geography and low-lying delta topography make it particularly vulnerable to climate change, ranking highly on the list of countries most prone to climate devastation. Bangladesh has been on the front line of climate change for decades, repeatedly confronting heatwaves, tropical cyclones, floods and droughts. Between 2000 and 2019, Bangladesh experienced 185 extreme weather events, making it the seventh most vulnerable country to climate change. Bangladesh is recognized as a global leader in adaptation and resilience. In 2005, Bangladesh was one of the first least developed countries to develop a national adaptation programme of action.
