Description
With the publication of the Directory of Science Communication Courses and Rograms,’educators can now identify those science writing courses being taught at institutions other than their own. This study is designed to supplement the directory by inventorying the content of some of the courses listed there. The primary intent is to examine the types of resource materials used in the courses and to describe the number and nature of major writing assignments required by the various science writing instructors.
In March 1978 a letter was sent to all 58 colleges and universities in the directory which had listed science writing courses that included structured class sessions (this excluded internships). Collectively, these schools offered approximately 104 science writing courses of all types.
