AES continues to promote collaborations and information exchange between American and Asian ecologists. AES just elected its new Chair for the 2008–2010 term. Dr. Yude Pan of the USDA Forest Service was elected and will assume office effective 1 October 2008. The current leadership will work closely with the new chair to make a smooth transition. AES will also host a mixer during the upcoming ESA meeting to discuss several issues, including a name change to include the Pacific region, ie, changing the Asian Ecology Section to “Asian-Pacific Section”(APS).
