Description
Parkinsonism is a movement disorder associated with Parkinson's disease, and the progression of this causative disease makes standing and walking difficult. These disorders are type of ataxia primarily due to a loss of motor coordination in the central nervous system (CNS). The ability to walk independently varies with intraday or daily variation and the severity of the disease. Therefore, voluntary motor commands to move skeletal muscles are output from the CNS, as well as whole-body dynamics such as joint movements of the lower limbs and center of gravity (COG) shifts associated with gait. For these reason, treatment and improvement of gait independence for gait disorders in Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonism patients could be provided by a wearable cyborg which is synchronized with the lateral sway involving patient's gait in order to construct proper interactive Bio-Feedback (iBF) loop.
