Description
There have been many advances in infrared imaging hardware along with its increased usage in medical applications in recent years. Infrared Imaging is a non-contact, noninvasive, radiation-free modality with low-cost and portable equipment that offers several advantages over other imaging modalities. Furthermore, since infrared thermal images have some unique imaging characteristics with inbuilt anonymity and opportunity to analyze in both thermal and imaging feature space, it has sparked considerable interest in several research communities. We are also starting to see innovative startups creating breakthrough solutions leveraging this emerging trend of advanced medical infrared thermology and use of novel machine learning algorithms over the captured thermal images.
Similarly to the First Workshop on Artificial Intelligence over Infrared Images for Medical Applications (AIIIMA 2022), the second workshop, AIIIMA 2023, aims to establish a forum to discuss this specific sub-topic at MICCAI and promote among the research community this novel area of research that has the potential to hugely impact our societies. Authors were invited to submit manuscripts from a wide range of topics including, but not limited to the applications of artificial intelligence for medical infrared imaging for cancer screening, cancer diagnosis, cancer risk assessment, treatment monitoring of cancers, COVID-19 screening, pain management, etc. To encourage more researchers to join this exciting field of medical imaging, AIIIMA hosted a data challenge and the website listed some prominent thermal imaging datasets for medical imaging for new researchers to …
