The article presents our comparative case study chronologically: we briefly contrast French and British integration and anti-discrimination policy prior to the Amsterdam Treaty. We then analyse the inclusion of Article 13 on antidiscrimination in the 1997 Treaty. The article’s final section analyses the negotiation of the Directives.
