Description
There has recently been a growing concern with the cultural and creative industries in the UK and elsewhere. Governments, recognizing the potential of these industries, have begun to foster an environment in which creativity and culture can blossom, contribute to the economy and generate social change. In many countries, cultural policy has moved from viewing the arts in terms of the funding and administration of certain kinds of artistic and heritage culture to viewing them as a tool for social inclusion, community development and urban regeneration. At the same time, businesses and corporations have moved to take advantage of different kinds of corporate social opportunities offered by the arts. They sponsor art events, open their own art galleries, associate their products with cultural offerings in different ways and have become major players in the arts market.
