Obesity is a major concern among males and females worldwide and particularly in the Middle East. Due to changing life styles & economic prosperity most of the obese population is composed of young teenagers or elderly. Obesity is a condition in which the natural energy reserve, stored in the fatty tissue of humans, is increased to a point where it is thought to be a risk factor for certain health conditions or increased mortality. Obesity is not a simple problem of eating too much, where increased calories in diet and reduced physical activity add to the problem. However, the underlying causes of obesity are not fully understood, obesity seems to be a complex, multifactorial, chronic disease. Contributing factors include genetics, physiology, environmental and psychosocial factors. The obesity is not just a cosmetic problem. It's a health hazard.
