Smith* University Of South Australia This study was designed to investigate relationships between psychological variables measuring dimensions of optimism and hope, levels of physical activity and body esteem. 514 primary school children (279 girls, 235 boys), aged between 11 and 13 participated in the study. Data collected included age, sex, year level, 3measures of optimism, incidental and organised physical activity levels, and body esteem.
