Findlay and Graham (1991) recently drew attention to a general malaise of’separate development’in population geography, which has resulted in the subject being more-or-less unaffected by theoretical and philosophical developments within the rest of the discipline and in social science generally. This criticism can be levelled at migration studies as much as at the rest of the subdiscipline.
