Ectopic pregnancy can now be detected at earlier gestations in asymptomatic women. As a consequence conservative treatment strategies may be more appropriate than surgical intervention. This review aims to discuss the diagnosis and the non‐surgical management options for ectopic pregnancy, in particular expectant management and the use of methotrexate. Copyright © 2005 ISUOG.
