Description
By use of a capillary columngas chromatograph interfaced directly to an atmospheric pressure Ionization mass spectrometer, the concentration of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dloxin (TCDD) was determined in environmentally exposed fish and wildlife. Isolation of TCDD from tissue samples was ac-complished via multistep high-pressure liquid chromatography incorporating stable label isotope dilution. Polychlorinated biphenyls were found not to Interfere with TCDD analysis at the low parts-per-trilllon levels.
The choice ofanalytical techniques employed for the analysis of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) res-idues has received an ever-increasing amount of attention because of the possible toxic effects stemmingfrom environmental exposure to TCDD (1, 2).
