Description
During the 2009 Student Conference, those attending held a discussion session on the challenges facing science and policy-makers in tackling climate change. Here, in brief, are some of the conclusions from these discussions. These views were condensed into a letter and sent to energy and climate ministers to put a voice to the young scientists of the RMetS.
The data we are collecting today are the historical datasets of the future. It is important that we continue to invest in these datasets in order both to improve the understanding of our climate’s sensitivity and to provide high quality and appropriate observation for our Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) data assimilation schemes. Our scientific understanding is ahead of the available computing resources.
