Description
This paper presents the design and performance analysis results of the TCSC for the real 345 kV grid installation in Korea. The 345 kV Sin-Youngju-Hanul transmission line was selected for this study. The TCSC parameters such as inductance and capacitance were designed based on real transmission line data and operating requirements. The power system with TCSC was simulated and analyzed through PSCAD/EMTDC and the results were compared with mathematical calculation results. As a result, the line impedance can be reduced by up to 50% by TCSC. With the addition of TCSC to the power system, the maximum power transfer increased by more than 20%. The results can be used effectively to apply TCSC to an actual system.
