Severe brain damages (ie huge loss of neurons) already occurred in those subjects that show the first symptoms of both diseases. Therefore, an early diagnosis is fundamental towards an early treatment of the future affected subjects. To this aim, the identification of gene signatures able to effectively discriminate between affected and healthy subjects is necessary in order to identify potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis of AD and PD. To this aim, we analyzed four publicly available DNA microarray datasets for the early and the late stage of both AD and PD.
