Description
Suggests approaching adolescent romantic relationships from a developmental-contextual perspective. The author presents a heuristic model of a prototypic, four-phase sequence through which adolescents pass in their development of romantic interests, skills, and relationship experiences. In each phase the author discusses the character of romantic activity and key features of the peer context. Finally, some applications of this model to future research on the role of peers in adolescent romantic relationships are suggested.(PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
