This Conclusion to the Reader has two main aims. First, to summarize some of the key themes and organizing principles which underpin the twenty-six readings in this volume and, second, to bring into greater focus the debates which unite and divide discourse researchers. In Section One I try to map the diversity of material covered and note some paths through. The remaining sections go on to examine some core epistemological or meta-theoretical issues which add further dimensions of contrast and comparison and cast more light on some of those already in play.
