Description
A conceptual approach to extend Budyko's Framework using" Limits Concept" is presented. The conceptual approach is first applied to develop equations for mean monthly streamflow and variance of streamflow based on a monthly water balance developed using Budyko's limits. Estimates of mean and variance of monthly streamflow from the semi-empirical equations are compared with the observed estimates for 1373 catchments in the continental United States. Analyses show that the proposed models explain the spatial variability in monthly moments for basins in lower elevations. The talk will also extend the Budyko supply-demand framework for watersheds experiencing significant human influence, particularly to account the impact of reservoir storage on downstream releases.
