Chinua Achebe's books, which have been translated into more than forty-five languages around the world, have earned him international praise and recognition. He has received numerous honours, including twenty-two doctorate degrees from Nigerian, British, American and Canadian universities. He was the first Director of External Broadcasting (Voice of Nigeria) in the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. He has been Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA, and at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is currently teaching at Bard College in the USA
