Goal setting is a behavior change technique that most people have experienced. For example, they have either set goals themselves or had goals set for them by other people such as in education (eg, do two hours of revision per day; achieve an “A” on your next assignment), in their work life (eg, achieve a promotion within two years; package 100 products per hour), or in their personal life (eg, run a marathon in under four hours; clean your bedroom every two weeks).
