Purpose
There is growing evidence regarding effectiveness of new technologies in improving young people's mental health and wellbeing. Used strategically, technologies can help to overcome traditional barriers to help seeking of physical access, confidentiality and stigma. While positive results are seen from young people's use of self directed eHealth interventions, there is some evidence that these are more effective if used as part of a stepped care model, with the support of a trained professional or as an adjunct to face to face treatment. However, little is known about the attitudes and behaviors of the youth health workforce towards the role that technologies play in young people's lives and their potential impacts (positive and negative) on young people's mental health and wellbeing.
