Description
This report examines the scientific and technical state of understanding for carbon sequestration strategies related to land use, land use change and forestry activities and relevant articles of the Kyoto Protocol. The scope, structure and outline of this report was approved by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1998. The global carbon cycle is discussed, as well as the effects of different land use and forestry activities on carbon stocks and greenhouse gas emissions. Future carbon uptake and emissions are assessed based on scenarios and carbon accounting strategies suggested in the Kyoto Protocol.
