Purpose
Left ventricular assistant devices (LVAD) are increasingly used in patients with end-stage heart failure. Despite improved survival rates, unplanned hospitalizations reduce the quality of life. Telemonitoring could facilitate early detection of complications and may further improve clinical outcome. Therefore, we developed and evaluated a personalized monitoring algorithm (PRECISION-LVAD) to remotely monitor LVAD pump parameters.
Methods
Patients implanted with a HeartMate 3 (HM3) in a single center were included. HM3 pump parameters (power and flow) were retrieved. The primary endpoint was defined as unplanned LVAD-related admission. The PRECISION-LVAD algorithm included a linear mixed model using “stable LVAD patients” data to predict patient-specific longitudinal measurements.
