Description
Heavy mineral assemblages of the coastal sediments of Chilka lake revealed that black sands transported from the sea-bed are deposited more abundantly in the surface sediments of foreshore zone and more concentrated in fine to very fine sands. Ilmenite, sillimanite and garnet were predominant. Garnet is relatively more dominant in the coarser fraction while ilmenite in finer fraction.
