We greatly appreciate and thank Ozden and Dikmen’s postpublication commentary of our retrospective study published in April of 2023 in the Journal of Arthroplasty. We open-mindedly read their commentary and did so with great attention to detail. The authors brought 2 points to our attention and to that of the audience of the Journal: the locking features of ceramic bearings and the use of computerized tomography (CT) scans in all cases when squeaking was reported to evaluate any suspected malseating or fracture of the ceramic liner.
As referenced by Ozden and Dikmen, Higuchi et al. evaluated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of malseating of the acetabular liner of 160 ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasties.
