Description
Recently diversity in transitions research has achieved increasing attention. Many diversity dimensions such as gender and geographical location, as well as their intersections, should be considered to achieve successful and just transitions. Currently, transitions research is diverse in some aspects, but the broader framework for diverse transitions research is lacking. In this contribution, (i) we outline why diversity should be considered in the transitions research agenda, (ii) we demonstrate the extent of diversity in current transitions research, (iii) we provide examples of how diversity can be considered in transitions research, and (iv) we give recommendations to achieve a diversification of transitions research. From our perspective, social diversity deserves more attention in the next decade of transitions research, to enable just sustainable transitions - for everyone.
