Description
The purpose of this article is to search for ways to make the essential work of narrowing, filling or bridging the chasm between theory and practice go forward most rapidly and effectively. How do we do this and where do we begin? First, we will examine ways that this chasm prevents the TGfU movement from moving forward and suggests ways that we all need to be involved in this endeavor. Second, we will outline the benefits for students and PE programs and discuss why TGfU is a viable curriculum model. Third, we will describe ways teachers and administrators can help fill the chasm using tried and tested means for implementing curricular innovations. Fourth, we will explain how researchers can help fill in the chasm. Fifth, we will examine how the different evolutions of the original model resulting in different names have contributed to identity confusion. Finally, we conclude by describing some tangible ways …
