This chapter discusses the controversial interactions of cultural and economic values, as an example of so-called city regeneration projects. It presents those cultural and creative industries are very popular notions in mainstream cultural policy and research literature will be confronted with a more universal concept of "the right to the city". "Quality of life is difficult to quantify", says Daniel Chodorkoff. Conceptual preparation of the project started in fall 2010, and in the beginning of 2011 the head of the project and her colleagues proposed Urban Furrows to the organizational team of the Maribor European Capital of Culture 2012.
