Description
We thank Chew and Goh [2015] for their attention to our article [Carlson et al., 2014] and recognize their concern that we emphasize maximum differences between streams draining oil palm plantations and other land uses without sufficiently recognizing experimental limitations. We respond by reacknowledging that our study design restricts our conclusions, providing conservative statistical analyses that link land use to stream outcomes, and offering additional data to contextualize our original findings that oil palm plantation land use is associated with elevated stream temperature and total suspended solids (TSS) concentration.
