Description
This paper explores the potential for increased development of the study of sexuality through blending the use of discourse approaches with sexual scripting theory. To date, these theoretical approaches have produced two different bodies of work that each contributes to the understanding of sexuality. Yet, rarely do they speak to each other. By using both theories concurrently, it will be possible to add greater depth to both forms of analyses. This means a greater emphasis on interaction within discourse approaches and a more in depth engagement of power in scripting approaches.
