Digital transformation (DT) has emerged as an important phenomenon that attracts the attention of both researchers and practitioners in all kind of industry and refers to the changes experienced by institutions and society in general as a consequence of the use of new digital technologies. In order to support the management of these digital technologies IT governance (ITG) plays an important role in organizations’ digital initiatives in particular in Higher education institutions (HEIs), adopting formal ITG mechanisms. Few studies have investigated the ITG mechanisms in Digital Transformation.
