Description
Certain seemingly incompatible properties of concepts, as explored in cognitive science experiments, can be understood as compatible in a model that represents concepts as regions in high-dimensional semantic space. After briefly reviewing the main theories of concepts and some outstanding questions in the field, we lay out the structure of a vector-based memory and reasoning system. With this background, we show how many of the model accounts for many puzzling features of mental concepts.
