Description
One of the most disheartening aspects of the decades-long increase in drug-related harm in the United States is our failure to fully implement the wide array of effective interventions available for reducing that harm. These strategies include broad access to opioid agonist therapy, 1 sterile injection supplies, 2 and naloxone, 3 as well as the establishment of supervised consumption sites. 4 Despite their efficacy, scaling up these interventions has proven a persistent challenge as a result of poorly targeted funding, legal barriers, stigma, and inadequate coordination among stakeholders.
