First paper: In 3 varieties of tomato variation in the physical retention of ovaries was not closely associated with variations in floral fertility as the latter was measured by an index of seeds per retained fruit. Second paper: The time-frequency distribution of tomato fruits reaching a diameter of 1 inch sometimes varied considerably from the pattern of fruit initiation.
