Over the past several years, an impressive array of technologies, information, and other resources have been developed to improve the way school buildings are designed and constructed. These tools can be used to change the traditional approach to school building in the United States-an approach that has a considerable negative impact on the natural environment and has produced many facilities that are costly to operate, difficult to maintain, and in some cases, unhealthy for children and staff.
