This book provides a current and comprehensive review of Sarcocystis and sarcocystosis in animals and man. The book is divided into 16 chapters. The first chapter is a general review of the history, structure, life cycle, pathogenesis, lesions, clinical signs, diagnosis, immunity, epidemiology, treatment, prevention and control of sarcocystosis. The 2nd chapter emphasizes techniques and includes the maintenance of the parasite in the laboratory, collection and purification of sporozoites, merozoites, and bradyzoites, preparation of antigens, serological techniques, clinicopathological techniques, and in vitro and in vivo cultivation. Successive chapters concern Sarcocystis in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, equids, humans and primates, camels, buffaloes, birds, wild ruminants and zoo animals, and poikilothermic animals.
