Community microgrids offer viable alternatives to centralized generation and distribution of electricity, while providing significant benefits to electricity customers and electric utilities. The design of an efficient master controller to be able to optimally schedule available distributed energy resources (DERs) and loads while maintaining the privacy of customers, however, is of utmost importance for the economics of operations in these systems. An efficient model for community microgrid optimal scheduling considering customer privacy issues is proposed in this chapter. The objective of the proposed economic operations model is to minimize the microgrid's total operations cost, which comprises the generation cost of local resources and the cost of energy purchases from the main grid for supplying local loads.
