Description
• The intentional scaffolding of research practices and experiences across a 4-year curriculum provides a developmental and sustainable model to guide students to greater independence and ownership of their learning and offers a supportive framework for advancing equity of opportunity and outcomes.• Curricular transformation can be a daunting undertaking. Yet specific actions aimed at the structural and cultural dimensions of academic departments and institutions can help achieve an enduring and equitable change.
• To catalyze a more rapid and sustainable transformation, it is incumbent on nested leadership teams to invest the time to understand and leverage their institutional agency, particularly the key factors that can either support or hinder the change process, such as academic cultures, institutional dispositions, and resource engines.
