Description
This article examines sum of the provocative statements in Lasuen's (1973) pioneering study on corporate organization and urban system development in light of recent changes in the United States from a traditional American “Fordist” mode of production to more flexible systems. At issue is the linkage of several dimensions: modes of corporate organization, local and national development, and policy. The development implications of specific modes of corporate organization and resultant indications for the potential of policy to effect positive change hinge on the organizational geographies of modes of production.
