Description
In early 1999 the authors became involved in the design and delivery of a unit to a remote location in a small town located in the North West of WA. At that site, eight students, seven of whom are Aboriginal were enrolled in the final stages of an education degree and the authors were involved in the delivery of a computer education unit in that degree. The unit was based on authentic instruction principles and support was delivered electronically through the use of various media. This paper describes the context and then explains how the key methods of modelling, coaching, scaffolding and fading, articulation, reflection and exploration were implemented in this environment.
