METHODS
Since 2007 we had performed over 400 transperineal template biopsies for different indications based on the national institute of clinical excellence (NICE) recommendations including suspected cancer with negative or inconclusive previous TRUS biopsies, as part of surveillance protocol or more recently mapping to determine the location and extent of prostate cancer as a guide to focal treatment. For those patients who had PSA of 15 μgm/L or less we had free to total PSA ratio and PSA density recorded, we managed to retrospectively collect the data for 145 patients with the above criteria.
RESULTS
Average age was 64.5 years with Mean PSA 8.9 and clinical stage ranging T1c-T2b. Cancer detection rate for the whole cohort with diagnostic indications was 61.7%(79/128) after excluding those on surveillance protocol and mapping purposes.
