Description
Mohs micrographic surgery, which yields 100% clear tumor margins and smaller defect sizes compared to excision, has yet to be implemented in Pakistan. Spearheading Mohs surgery in Pakistan can lead to lower tumor recurrence rates, smaller defect sizes, and greater precision than excision. We present a clinical-epidemiologic descriptive analysis of the first Mohs surgeries conducted in Pakistan. Clinical, epidemiologic, and surgical data dates from Sept. 2021 to Dec. 2022 at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. A board certified Mohs surgeon conducted a workshop on the procedural requirements of Mohs surgery at HFH. Four patients with biopsy-proven basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma were selected using the Mohs Appropriate Use Criteria and consented to surgery (n= 4).
