CBC has been defined as:‘An integrative approach which combines the use of cognitive, behavioural, imaginal and problem-solving techniques and strategies within a cognitive behavioural framework to enable clients to achieve their realistic goals’(Palmer & Szymanska, 2019: 108). CBC has largely developed since the 1990s, integrating theoretical concepts and strategies based on cognitive behavioural, rational-emotive behavioural, problem-focused (see Palmer, 1997a, 1997b) and solution-focused approaches and techniques.
