Conclusions
In summary, we have developed the first phosphine-enabled ruthenium-catalyzed C–H/C–F functionalization to furnish synthetically useful fluorinated ketones. Thus, the judicious choice of a tertiary phosphine ligand and a stoichiometric base set the stage for a switch in chemoselectivity from a common ruthenium-catalyzed C–H hydroarylation manifold to a challenging allylative C–H/C–F functionalization.
