Description
Context-aware and semantic-based technologies have been successfully employed to improve multimedia management in mobile environments. Large sets of context-tagged images on the Web are a concrete example of this achievement. In this paper, we go a step forward showing new usages for these context annotated images. We present two mobile systems: MMedia2U and CAPTAIN, which take the concept of context-aware multimedia management beyond photo organization and annotation. CAPTAIN is a tool for assisting logbook generation from context-tagged images and tracking data. This tool is used by crewmembers to manage and publish in a blog the multimedia content of the sea expedition ZeroCO2. MMedia2U, on the contrary, is a mobile photo recommender system that exploits the user’s context and contexttagged images as a means to improve photo recommendation.
