Development of cloud applications demands a high level of expertise, knowledge and skills to make good use of the flexibility, efficiency and scalability of cloud resources. Security, in particular, is one of the most important disciplines due to the extensive level of knowledge required. In order to improve systems with adequate design decisions about security, engineering approaches become critical in order to manage the security elements. The CUMULUS engineering process addresses this problem providing a modelling framework for supporting the design of cloud applications, relying in Security Patterns, which are a proven mechanism to define the necessary architecture for fulfilling security requirements.
